The UCAP School Coronavirus Info & Updates

At The UCAP School, our main priority, always, is the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. We are doing our best to manage our response to coronavirus (or COVID-19) based on the information we have. We are in frequent contact with local health and education authorities to understand the risks and handle any developments in the situation.

Updated April 23, 2020 – Distance Learning to continue through the rest of the 2020 school year

Per a directive from Governor Gina Raimondo, Distance Learning will continue through the remainder of the 2020. school year due to precautions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students will have vacation days on May 6th, May 15th, May 20th and June 1st. The last day of school will be June 18th.

Updated April 6, 2020 – Meals for Kids

Beginning this week, Providence will be distributing breakfast and lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. Each day, students may pick up enough food to last 3-4 days. Three additional sites have been added. For locations, click: Grab and Go Meals.

Free, packaged meals are also available the same days (from 4-6 p.m.) to youth 18 and under at 11 Providence Recreation Centers. For information click: Food Sites for Children.

The health and well-being of our students is important to us. During this time, young people may experience difficulties such as sadness or anger, lashing out at siblings, having anxiety and worrying more than usual or even harming themselves or others. If you notice any of these things in your child’s behavior, please call Kids’ Link Rhode Island at 855.543.5465. 

Updated April 1, 2020 – April Reading Challenge

As we embark on a month of distance learning, we can also encourage students to get in the habit of reading every day. That is why Governor Raimondo and Commissioner Infante-Green have challenged all students in Rhode Island to read for at least 20-60 minutes every single day in the month of April. March 13, 2020 – Spring Break Closure

After classes finish at 2:00 pm today, March 13, 2020, The UCAP School will be closed for Spring Break. We are moving our Spring Break up to next week, March 16-20, 2020. This will replace our previously scheduled vacation in April.
