BOARD

Board of Directors

Like every public school, The UCAP School must adhere to the policies and procedures of the Rhode Island Department of Education. However, as an independent public school and a collaborative, UCAP contracts with three different school districts. The Board of Directors is made up of those cities’ school superintendents who oversee UCAP School Director Rob DeBlois.

The Board meets quarterly to review school policies and curricula, set tuition rates, and evaluate the director. The Board of Superintendents is keenly aware of the long-term savings they achieve with The UCAP School: every student who accelerates spends one less year in the public school system.

An Advisory Board of community and education leaders provides further guidance in these areas.

(The Fund for UCAP, which raises money for all programs not supported by the per-pupil tuition paid by the districts, is a separate organization with its own Board.)
